City of Auburn Welcomes New Mascot To Falcon and Casey Park

Along with the announcement that the City of Auburn has extended an agreement to host the Doubledays Baseball Team through the 2028 season, the City is proud to introduce a new mascot for the multi-sport venues of Falcon and Casey Park.

Beginning with the summer 2022 season, ‘Casey’ the Falcon will assist Abner Doubleday with mascot duties for Doubledays baseball games and other sporting events at both Falcon Park and Casey Park.

The new Falcon Park facility is also home to the Cayuga Community College Spartans lacrosse, soccer, baseball, and softball programs. Along with Doubeldays baseball in the summer months, the facility also hosts high school sports and other sports tournaments and events throughout the spring and fall seasons. The adjacent Casey Park facility features an Olympic-sized swimming pool, softball fields, tennis, basketball, pickleball courts, and a community ice arena.

“Our new mascot, Casey, will be a great addition to the community-oriented feel of our facilities. Abner will concentrate on Doubledays baseball, and Casey will appear at the other sporting and community events that happen year-round. Casey will appear alongside Abner at Doubledays games as well. We hope for this new addition to be a lot of fun for our community,” stated Mayor Quill.

It did not take Casey long to settle into the new Falcon Park facility. This summer, visitors to the stadium will find that Casey has already built a nest on the first base side deck. The public will get its first chance to see Casey in the upcoming Memorial Day parade held in downtown Auburn Monday, May 30th beginning at 11 am. Casey will then join Abner at Falcon Park for the opening night of the 2022 Doubledays season against the Newark Pilots on Friday, June 3rd, at 7:00 pm.
