The Auburn Doubledays announce the extension of their lease with the City of Auburn through 2028.
In 2021, Auburn Doubledays, Inc. signed a three-year lease agreement with the City of Auburn to utilize Falcon Park and have the rights to the Auburn Doubledays name and trademarked logo. Current Auburn Baseball Inc. owners Don Lewis and Bob Ohmann announce an additional five-year lease agreement to keep the Doubledays baseball team on the field through 2028.
Lewis and Ohmann joined forces in 2021 following the team's year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Doubledays team saw rapid success in their first season under this new ownership, both on and off the field. The Doubledays met all corporate and season ticket sale goals in the 2021 season, and they now see an increase of 23% in season ticket sales. Moreover, the team has already sold out of some sponsorship inventory and has a waiting list for outfield advertising due to the local community's support. On the field, the Doubledays went 26 and 19, which put them in the playoffs in their first season of play under Auburn Baseball, Inc. The Doubledays fell short in the 2021 league semi-finals in a one-game playoff against the Amsterdam Mohawks.
With the 2022 season almost here, the Doubledays anticipate another great season at Falcon Park and look forward to continuing their partnership with the City of Auburn.
