Steve LaRose Named to Doubledays Pitching Staff

Auburn Doubledays would like to introduce the newest member of the coaching staff for 2024. Steve LaRose will join the team as the Pitching Coach.

Steve was born and raised in Manchester, NH. He started young in Little League, Pony League, Babe Ruth, High School, and American Legion, then on to Junior College, 4 Years with the NY Mets, and 2 Years with the Houston Astros organization. Steve was inducted into the Manchester, NH Hall of Fame in 2001.

Married 37+ years to Jacklynn Leonard of Auburn, NY, they now have three children (Erica, Samantha, and Nicholas) and six grandchildren (5 boys and 1 girl).

During his time in professional baseball, he was fortunate and very grateful to have had professional and knowledgeable baseball instructors such as Ted Williams, Mel Stottlemyre, Brent Strom, and Yogi Berra, to name a few. Steve says that with his great love of the game he was able to absorb this knowledge and use it. Steve often says, “Growing up, I wish I had someone like me teaching me the game.” After the passing of his father-in-law, he immediately began planning to move his wife and her mom back to their hometown of Auburn. In 2022, this mission was accomplished. Steve’s nickname is Rosey, and his pledge to Auburn baseball is this: “To share my knowledge, both physical and mental, with young amateur players so that they can continue on to higher levels of skill and LOVE for the game of Baseball, just as I did.”
